How does this compare to other similarly functioning driver updating software?
In particular, Snail Suite, IOBit Driver Booster or Snappy Driver Installer?

main benefit i can see straight off the bat, is that there's an offline version.

If you're dealing with windows 7 generalized images, it's quite a pain getting net drivers onto devices especially if they only have usb3 ports. (since win 7 doesn't natively support usb3)

one thing that does worry me about programs like this..

is most of the time in the case of driver updater programs it's full of junk.. how does this one fair up?

driverpack solution has 3 packages
online
Wlan / lan
Offline
I actually recommend the offline version.
Then you always have the most drivers with you.

with driverpack solution you can turn that junk off in expert mode.
that is a one-time adjustment

Snappy Driver Installer also offers an offline mode with torrent download, I'm not a fan of the fancy UI and aesthetics

Regarding DriverPack Solutions
Even the ‘DriverPack Offline Full’ version does go on-line and sends a report back to base. Also it will install some programs by default if you don’t un-select them in settings and applications, use ‘expert mode’ never ‘automatic’
Having said all that, it’s a good resource - don’t be paranoid, just be aware
